High Definition Golf Simulator Projector Q&A

In a previous blog article, we dealt with the issue of throw ratio and how it relates to the distance a projector must be away from the screen.  In this article, we will discuss some other questions we often get in regards to High Definition Golf Simulators.    Question:  What is the resolution of the projectors you sell?   Answer:  Currently we use 720p Ultra Short Throw Projectors.  In projectors, it is often difficult for the average person who is not familiar with projectors to understand the “Specifications” that a projector has.  To simplify the specs, just look at a...

Golf Studio Design Considerations

There are many things to consider when you are designing your indoor golf studio.  The first consideration one needs to consider is your available space.  The minimum room size to play a simulator “without restrictions” is 9 foot ceilings, 12 foot in width and 12 foot in depth.  Now, we need to emphasize that this room size is to play “without restrictions”.  It does not mean that you cannot put a golf studio in a room that has smaller dimensions.   So let’s first consider ceiling height.  Most people have no problem swinging a driver under 9 foot ceilings.  Obviously,...

Understanding Golf Simulator Projectors

Most people think that any projector will work for golf simulators.  This is NOT the case.  The reason is that standard projectors are not meant to produce large images from short distances.  The feature in projectors that determines how far you need to be away from your screen is called Throw Ratio.  To determine how far away a projector has to be away from a screen you multiply the diagonal dimension of your screen by the throw  ratio.  To determine the diagonal dimension of a screen, we use the pythagorean theorem or a2 + b2 = c2 Lets use the following as an example: *...

OptiShot Review

Hi, Before we begin the review of the OptiShot Golf Simulator, it is important to have an understanding of the 2 different types of Golf Simulation.   The first type we will discuss are ball trackers.  These ball trackers use high speed cameras to track the ball once it is hit, and then base a simulation on that information.  The primary benefits to this type of tracking is that they are accurate and they do include in their simulation launch angle and smash factor.  The draw backs to ball tracking are that you don't get swing feedback such as club head speed,...
